Why choose Big Foot Beef Company for pasture-raised beef?
The red meat you see at the typical grocery store retains its bright red color due to carbon monoxide injections. It's a practice that has been banned in many countries but not here in the U.S.. It's not only unhealthy it affects flavor as well making a otherwise juicy flavorful cut drier and bland. Some stores are also known to inject their meat with a sodium brine to add weight and try to add some flavor back that was lost from the carbon monoxide injection. That meat is far from natural.
Our cows graze on a mixture of natural grasses, alfalfa and hay free of pesticides and fertilizers with access to multiple pastures. This varied diet keeps them happy and healthy, resulting in richly marbled meat full of flavor with less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and calories than commercially-produced beef. The meat is also higher in vitamins C and E, Omega 3 and CLA, a fatty acid associated with lower body fat. This humane, all-natural approach is good for your family as well as the environment.
